Woman goes viral getting belly button tattoo to appear taller

A TikToker is going viral after putting on a temporary stick-on tattoo of a belly button to make herself look taller.

TikTok is brimming with beauty hacks and trends, and one of the latest fads sees women wearing fake belly buttons to modify their height and create the illusion of having a longer torso.

In a viral clip posted by Lauria Mejia, who boasts over 1.8 million followers on the platform, the influencer filmed herself placing a temporary tattoo higher than her natural belly button to appear taller.

“These are fake navels and it is a new trend that people in Asia are using,” she said in the video, which has amassed over 4.9 million views. “They place it higher so that the torso looks longer, so let’s try it.”

She then pressed the fake stick-on tattoo to her stomach and sprayed it with water, waiting for it to transfer. After seeing the final results, Lauria said it looked “scary.”

Viewers slam fake belly button trend

“I feel like instead of looking taller, I’m wider, but it’s because I’m crazy… I don’t know!” she added, unimpressed by the hack. The influencer went on to ask her viewers what they thought, and the vast majority were just as disappointed with the finished look.

“It made her look shorter, because she already has a long torso,” one TikTok user commented. “I don’t think it looks like a navel,” another wrote.

“Is it just me or did it make her look smaller?” a third asked. “I feel that on the contrary, it shortens your abdomen,” someone else shared.

One person thought the fake navel looked “cute,” because it “makes you look smaller and wider.”

This is just the latest beauty craze to spark criticism on TikTok, after the ‘legging legs’ trend got banned on the app due to eating disorder concerns.
