In a five-minute video on February 19, 2024, Stephanie shared the whole experience she and her family went through after her husband and daughter used a brand new Easy Bake Oven.

After plugging it in for the first time, her eight year old daughter mentioned that it smelled funny but they went ahead and continued cooking the first part of a cake.

The cake didn’t turn out correctly, so they didn’t continue and promptly unplugged the Easy Bake Oven. Shortly after, the little girl began to complain of chest pains and shortness of breath so they went to the emergency room.

“My husband, 8 year old daughter and myself all got admitted to the ER on Saturday because of an Easy Bake Oven. Difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chills, and nausea. Nothing on Google showed anything similar, so was this a one off or have there been others? It was scary that we all got affected so quickly,” she said in the caption of the clip.

While they were there, Steph’s husband began complaining of similar symptoms and went off to get treated in another room. The TikToker had issues breathing too, but was treated in the same room as her daughter.

The next morning, the womans daughter was transferred to the Childrens Hospital for further treatment. They couldn’t pinpoint the issues at all, but the TikToker is certain that everything was caused by the Easy Bake Oven.

On February 22, 2024, Hasbro reached out to Dexerto with a statement regarding the claims made by Steph.

“At Hasbro, we take all product safety concerns seriously. We hold ourselves to the highest standards, and the Easy Bake Oven is designed to meet or exceed those standards. We are confident that there is nothing in the design of the Easy Bake Oven or Easy Bake mixes that could cause the symptoms described,” said Crystal Flynn, Hasbro spokesperson.

“Regardless of circumstances, the wellbeing of our customers is our foremost concern, and we wish those involved a speedy recovery.”

Hasbro also says that its customer care team has reached out to the affected family.
