A Meta Quest 2 owner took to Reddit to warn others after their headset bricked following a factory reset.

Over the last few years, VR headsets have skyrocketed in popularity, with the Meta Quest lineup leading the pack by a long shot.

They’re not perfect, however, with various issues like melting charge plugs affecting the Quest 2.

Now, a Quest 2 owner took to Reddit to warn others after their headset bricked following a factory reset, and Meta doesn’t have a fix for the issue just yet.

Meta Quest 2 bricks after factory reset

On February 20, 2024, Reddit user tenebrisunum took to the Oculus Quest subreddit to warn users of the issues they’re facing after factory resetting their headset.

“I recently factory reset my oculus quest 2 in order to give it to my niece as she uses it more than me. Well apparently I’m one of a few group of people whose devices are being bricked and can’t pair with any mobile app regardless of the phone being used,” they said.

“Meta has responded but there is no know fix or timeframe to get it fixed. In conclusion: if you are having issues with paring your headset DO NOT RESET IT! It only makes it worse apparently??”

Users quickly took to the comments to share their thoughts on the situation, and revealed that it’s not just limited to the Quest 2.

“lol there was a post of guy resetting his Q3 headset 20 times to try to fix pass through,” one user replied.

Another said: “Can you ask them if you can send them your headset so they can do tests on it, and on the mean time send you a replacement?”

“That may be more common than it seems, happened to both glasses me and my brother own, only way we could pair again with the Oculus phone app was by installing an older version of it,” a third said.
