Smash Ultimate is finally adding some Pokemon Scarlet & Violet content to the game as Nintendo has just detailed the focus of the next spirit event set to launch imminently.

The Smash Ultimate post-launch hype train continues to barrel down the tracks. Hot off the heels of a blockbuster Spirit event in January, one that brought Hades to the game, February’s event has now been detailed.

This time around, Pokemon is in focus once again. Though for the first time, it’s 2022’s popular Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet set to make a splash in the brawler.

After a year and half of fans clamoring for any crossover, Nintendo answered with the third of its New Spirits Events, with this one set to commence on Friday, February 9.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet content joins Smash Ultimate

Unveiled in a surprise announcement on February 6, Nintendo’s official Japanese Smash Bros account revealed the news. Pokemon from the Paldea region featured in Scarlet, Violet, and the Zero Treasure DLC will make their presence known in Smash Ultimate.

New spirits from the games will begin appearing from Friday, February 6, and be accessible for five days in total. Not only that, however, but if you win a battle with any of these spirits in your corner, additional snacks can be yours for the taking.

With extra snacks on hand, you can then level up these spirits much faster than usual, ensuring the Pokemon benefit you in combat as much as possible.

Of course, the starters from Scarlet & Violet, Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly, are front and center in the announcement. But players can be sure to expect a few other surprise appearances too, especially with the Zero Treasure DLC being included.

Just last month Hades dropped into Smash Ultimate through the last Spirit event.

This Pokemon Scarlet & Violet content drop comes just weeks after Nintendo shocked the community with the surprise addition of Hades in the last Spirit event.

With one more Spirit event left to go, it’s anyone’s guess as to who might join the fight next.
