PUBG Hackers | Cheating on Xbox?

PUBG cheating and hacking on the PC has been a prevalent issue for a while now. It appears hackers may have been able to exploit the Xbox version too…

PUBG Hacks

The majority of people reading this will be very much anti-cheating. Some may even be blissfully unaware that PUBG hacking is an issue.

Unfortunately PUBG cheating is an issue that has plagued the game since release on the PC. Those cheats include:

  • Aimbot (the ability to automatically aim at an opponent who is in view)
  • Permanent UAV (see where everyone is on the map)
  • See and drive through buildings

Blocking the cheats and banning those who implement them has been an ongoing process for Bluehole. Some of those cheaters in China, which makes up an estimated 50% of the PUBG player base, have even faced jail time.

It does appear the cheating situation has improved but still remains. However, PUBG hacks appear to have made their way over to the Xbox.

PUBG Xbox Cheating

The Xbox PUBG hack is regrettably quite substantial. Whilst it doesn’t appear to be widespread, those who are utilising it have an often unsurpassable advantage. The cheat in question allows you to do the following:

  • Permanent UAV
  • Where everyone is looking
  • When anyone is aiming
  • Where each item of loot is
  • All gamertags

How Does This Happen?

We’re not going to detail how the hack works for obvious reasons. The basics of it are the data is read before it hits the Xbox and therefore can be used for the above additional information.

You may ask why the data isn’t encrypted. Well of course it should be and this is rather concerning on Microsoft’s part. In this case it appears the data has either been cracked or was never encrypted in the first place.

PUBG Xbox Cheating Punishment?

The first question is, what is being done to firstly fix it and secondly punish the ones using it. There is no real answer to either question unfortunately.

In a direct response to the Reddit thread above, the PUBG Xbox Community Manager, stated “we’re investigating this issue and will take action against any cheats or hacks.

This also suggests there hasn’t been any punishment handed out to current cheaters. On the up side though it does sound like there will be punishments handed out in due course.

PUBG Response

Since then in Bluehole’s weekly update on the state of PUBG on the Xbox, they responded to these recent cheating revelations with the following:

Bluehole respond to the recent cheating revelations on PUBG Xbox…

The news of these PUBG cheats on Xbox isn’t ideal for Bluehole considering the upcoming PUBG PS4 release. We don’t know whether these cheats will be possible on the PS4 port but we can only hope not. Furthermore, we also don’t know how the PS4 version of PUBG will compare to the Xbox version.

PUBG Mobile banned in India alongside 100+ China-linked apps

The Indian government has banned PUBG Mobile, one of the most popular mobile games in the country, along with over 100 more apps with links to Chinese publishers.

PUBG Mobile has a touchy history in India specifically. Countless news reports of teens becoming incredibly addicted to the game have filled Indian media for over two year. The game has been blamed for bad exam results, and in some extreme stories, death.

The controversy around PUBG Mobile in India has prompted calls for the government to ban it in the past, by a student association worried about its effect on education.

On September 2, India’s Interior Ministry banned the game, along with 118 other apps, citing concerns around cybersecurity, as tensions with China rise.

PUBG Mobile was one of the most popular games on iOS and Android in India.

They said the apps were “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defence of India, Security of State and Public Order.”

The move follows India’s previous bans of other Chinese social media apps, including TikTok.

In a statement, the Indian government said: “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources including several reports about misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside of India. There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens.”

Other banned apps, via TechCrunch, include Baidu, WeChat Work, Tencent Weiyun, Rise of Kingdoms, APUS Launcher, Tencent Weiyun, VPN for TikTok, Mobile Taobao, Youko, Sina News and CamCard.

PUBG Mobile is notable though, because of how wildly popular it was in the country. In March 2019, police actually arrested ten students who were playing the game because the game had been banned in that specific region.

“Our team caught these youths red-handed. They were taken into custody after they were found playing the PUBG game,” said Police inspector Rohit Raval at the time.
