Pulling a Legendary card from a classic pack like the Neo Genesis set is a dream come true, but as one Pokemon TCG collector found out, there’s no guarantee of the card’s quality.

For Pokemon TCG collectors there are so many different elements to keep track of. Sure, some sets, and some cards are much rarer than others, but sometimes it’s also the quality of the card that counts.

If you’re serious about cards, then it’s worth checking out how to grade cards or to find a nice Pokemon TCG binder to put them in. But, sometimes even when you’ve done everything you can, a printing error can happen which knocks some pennies off your pulls without you even doing anything.

Collector pulls a Pokemon TCG Lugia with common print error

A Pokemon TCG player by the name of u/lets-work-together recently shared a post to Reddit, showing off their haul after opening some packs from the fan-favorite Pokemon TCG Neo Genesis set.

Alongside the post, they added the comment, “Opened a neo genesis pack and pulled the Lugia, was so happy until I noticed it had 3 print lines. Is that common?”

Plenty of other Pokemon TCG players have hopped in the comments to help, with one person saying, “It actually is very common. This why the Lugia in a PSA 10 is worth so much and why the booster boxes are so pricey because even if you pull the Lugia, it’s very likely to have the print lines.”

Another comment underneath the post shares their thoughts on the classic set, adding, “Damn centering looks good too. Neo Genesis is notorious for having print lines.”

Meanwhile, another comment compares this to modern complaints about printing, sharing the level-headed response, “People complain about modern print quality but it’s always been an issue in one way or another.”

Thankfully, not everyone was so down on the pull, as one comment cheerily says, “Either way I would be freaking out, in a positive way.” Before finally, a separate comment adds, “No no, those are ‘action’ lines. To emphasize the movement of Lugia.”
