Unable to purchase a Pokemon TCG base set, one crafty fan created wooden carvings inspired by some of their favorite cards.

The Pokemon card game’s base set comprises more than 100 cards. As countless fans have learned, collecting the full set now isn’t exactly cheap.

One person who couldn’t shell out money for the complete set managed to accomplish the next best thing by making somewhat of a set for themselves.

The Pokemon fan’s creation doesn’t merely consist of fancy paper cards, though. Instead, their homage to the classic TCG cards comes in the form of impressive wooden carvings.

Because they can’t purchase a Pokemon base set, one Redditor used their many skills to put a unique spin on the card-collecting hobby. The result is a set of 3D wooden carvings, each one modeled after the fan’s favorite cards from their youth.

Images shared on the PokemonTCG subreddit show the user carved about a dozen cards, with some featuring Blastoise, Charizard, Mew, and Raichu.

The Redditor explained the following in response to those curious about how the cards were made: “They are cut out on the middle to make them 3d! The ‘holo’ versions are just the cutout of the mon but in acrylic.”

As one would expect, Pokemon faithful can’t help but feel in awe of the original poster’s stunning craftsmanship.

“This is sick,” reads a comment from one impressed Reddit user.

Someone else who’s just starting a woodworking journey of their own commented, “As someone who is taking their first woodworking class this weekend—this is the type of thing I could only dream of doing.”

Another person suggested that the talented Pokemon fan open a web store. “If this man doesn’t create his own website and store, bruh. Go make some sided money to achieve what you want or what you need in lyfe. This sh** is fire.”

The craftsman isn’t finished, either. In another comment, the user said they’re working on a few more designs right now, with a Machamp coming somewhere down the line.
