While most Pokemon players wait for official word on what 2024 has in store, one eager fan has developed their own concept for this year’s Pokemon game, fusing Johto and Unova.

Pokemon fans are pretty notorious for constantly daydreaming about the next games, even when titles are on the horizon.

However, ahead of any potential Pokemon Day announcements in the coming weeks, the 2024 calendar looks a little barren at the moment, so Pokemon players around the world are having fun with some new concepts.

As such, one Pokemon game concept is currently doing numbers, perhaps aided by the fact it combines several popular fan theories and requests into one giant mish-mash that just might work. If it was ever real, that is.

Johto and Unova unite in this Pokemon fan’s new game concept

As shared to Twitter(X) by content creator @_EliteRobo, they posted the idea of Pokemon titles named ‘Black Gold’ and ‘Silver White’ that fuse both Johto and Unova, two generations defined by their links to the past and the future.

Continuing with their idea, heavy on wish fulfillment, EliteRobo suggests the titles would be an HD2D entry much like recent RPGs Triangle Strategy or Octopath Traveller, and that players could travel between Johto and Unova as the story progresses.

There are a few more ideas in there, so check out the original post to see more, but needless to say, some other Pokemon players love the idea.

One Pokemon fan in the comments responds, by saying, “love this idea” before another person adds, “I’d play tf outta this.”

Among the support, there is quite a lot of skepticism, with many people pointing out that this sort of drastic change is unlikely. One comment supports this line of thinking, saying, “This would be amazing but it will never happen.”

Finally, a few people remain cool on the idea and remain unconvinced. A comment from one person adds, “I don’t hate this, but I don’t love it either. It would really need a story reason to put them together.”

While this sort of fan-focused title is unlikely to happen, it’s nice to imagine. Still, while many fans are wondering if there will be a Pokemon game in 2024, there are only a few short weeks until Pokemon Day 2024, when the future of the franchise will be at least partially revealed.
