Overwatch 2 players want one feature added to promote positivity

Overwatch 2 players call for one particular feature to be added, which may be able to alleviate toxic behavior and negativity in the game.
Since the early days of Overwatch, toxicity has always been one of the issues plaguing the game. Perhaps you’ve tried learning a hero or warming up in Quick Play, only to have your teammates yell you’re getting diffed. Or maybe you’ve encountered a toxic player constantly harassing others in ranked play.
Either way, things like this tend to happen all the time, despite Blizzard’s attempts to alleviate the issue. With all the toxicity that can happen in the game, some players have called for one certain feature that can be used to “congratulate” other players when making good plays.
This feature is none other than a “good job” ping, which was suggested in a Reddit thread.
“This may be something really stupid for many people. But as someone who doesn’t play with the comm off (due to the toxicity) and on console, I can’t count how many times I’ve been in a match and watched my teammate do a nice play, and I want to congratulate them,” the OP explained.
They mentioned that they’re aware this could just be typed in chat, but would rather not risk getting jumped by an enemy while doing so. Hence, having this option would be a “nice touch.”
“And more in a game with such toxic players, we need more options for positivity. Like we got a lot of sassy options (like Moira’s “Aren’t you pathetic?” [While I’m writing, I’m getting harassed by it]) let me tell my Supports that they are doing great!” they added.
Regarding this feature, other players quickly jumped to the comments to share their thoughts, with some agreeing with the OP.
One of them wrote: “Agreed, I would love that, especially after a teammate gets off a good ult and wins a team fight. Petition to add a ‘That was awesome’ button.”
“Good job would be a good option. As it goes, thank you is close enough [in my opinion],” mentioned another.
One player even pointed out that Smite already has this feature where players can say “nice job” with the press of a button. Though it’s not always used as intended, they still love it.
However, some players were convinced that this kind of ping would just be used sarcastically, referring to how “thank you” and “goodbye” can be used. Though one person argued that players shouldn’t assume everyone is “enough of an a******” that’s out to ruin others’ experience.
