Dafran demands unique Overwatch 2 nerf to “bullsh*t” flank heroes

Overwatch 2 streamer and former OWL pro Daniel ‘Dafran’ Francesca is urging the devs to nerf a few heroes he believes are getting an unfair advantage by flanking.

Flanking is an integral strategy in many FPS titles, but in Overwatch, there’s little doubt that some heroes are just better at it than others. Whether it’s Tracer blinking in the backline or Sombra stealthily hacking targets, some are just built different.

That said, some heroes that may not have been designed as flankers can certainly benefit in a big way due to the game’s sound – something Dafran wants the devs to finally adjust.

In a raging social media post, the DPS sensation rallied his followers to demand additional nerfs to Zenyatta, Sigma and Echo.

The interesting thing about Sigma and Zenyatta is that they float, meaning they don’t have footstep noises. As such, they can silently sneak around the battlefield to secure kills without the enemy having any idea about it.

This is unfair for some, and Dafran has had enough of the problematic heroes taking advantage of their lack of footsteps.

“It’s time to add an audio for Zenyatta and Sigma when moving and louder audio for Echo when flying so we can easily hear when they are flanking us,” he insisted.

The Danish DPS streamer further claimed that getting flanked by “no sound Zenyatta” is “bullsh*t” because the hero doesn’t make any noise whatsoever.

Users in the comments were split on the idea, with one viewer suggesting the Omnic monk have a “slight hum.”

“Listen to this man, please!” wrote another, tagging the game’s Lead Hero Designer in the process.

Not everyone was on board. “Zen is easy lunch for a well-executed dive. Seems like a fair trade-off,” one critic responded.

“How tf are you getting flanked by a Sigma consistently?” another confused user replied.

It remains to be seen whether the devs have any plans to adjust the audio for those heroes, but we’ll have to see what the future holds, especially with Season 9 completely revamping the way OW2 is played.
