Taylor Swift is always one for surprises. From tucking away musical easter eggs on social media to creatively swerving, the pop singer calculates her every move.
During the 2024 Grammy Awards, Swift announced her 11th studio album while accepting the honor for Pop Vocal Album. No one could have predicted the news, as many fans believed Reputation (Taylor’s Version) was next on the release schedule.
With the album coming out on April 19, fans have begun spinning a theory that Swift will make a surprise guest appearance during Lana Del Rey’s set at Coachella that same night.

Swifties have been quick to post their thoughts about Taylor Swift’s potential performance at Coachella. Many took their coupling at the Grammys as confirmation that they have something up their sleeves when it comes to the festival’s second weekend.
“Taylor is going to come out at Coachella with Lana on April 19 . And I will be there to witness it,” one fan boldly asserted.
“Guys what if Lana brings out Taylor at Coachella to sing snow on the beach,” speculated another.
TikTok user kangakay postulated that Swift is likely to perform as both Bleachers and Lana Del Rey were performing at Coachella, also hinting that they could potentially be working on Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.
She then considered that April 19 has more meaning than only an album release. Furthermore, the international leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour takes the entire month of April off. “So, Taylor would be available,” the user concluded.
In a now-deleted TikTok, user Josh_Wolf claimed Swift and Del Rey would be performing together for the show’s last 30 minutes, citing alleged confirmation from an unnamed source. The video was deleted on February 6, 2024.
Many more Taylor Swift fans rallied behind the theory and shared their excitement on Twitter/X.
“So, I’m taking this as Taylor will be on stage with Lana at Coachella,” considered one user, re-sharing a photo of the two singers together at the Grammys.
“TAYLOR SWIFT SURPRISE PERFORMANCE AT COACHELLA WEEKEND 2 MANIFESTING,” screamed another.
“Taylor dropping an album the first day of Coachella w2 got me putting my clown makeup back on,” quipped a third.
This isn’t the first time theories were flown around about Taylor Swift’s potential Coachella gig. In 2023, Swifties posted their thoughts on TikTok with many once again pointing out the fact April 2024 is clean from any major public appearances or concerts.
With April wide open, Swift’s schedule will likely be packed with promo stops for her new album — but perhaps Swifties are right. Time will tell.
