League of Legends has announced major nerfs coming to the support item World Atlas after a new double-sharing strategy emerged.

The newest season of League of Legends has finally hit the live servers. Season 14 brought plenty of changes to the MOBA, with item, map, and jungle camp updates, shaking up the rift in ways never seen before.

Because of the sheer volume of changes, it’s taking players some time to figure out what’s the best way to play the game, the best items to build, the best champions to use, and the correct strategies to implement.

One strategy has quickly risen to prominence thanks to the new support items, which have showcased the sheer power of gold generation. This strategy has become so overwhelmingly powerful that the devs have announced a major nerf specifically to counteract this strategy.

LoL devs gut support item with new shared debuff

The World Atlas in League of Legends is the dream item for any support. It provides health, base health, and mana regeneration, whilst also granting 3 gold per 10 seconds. This item also unlocks a quest, which when completed lets the player pick from 1 of 5 powerful items each granting their own unique effect.

Players have discovered that you can build two of these items on both your bot laners, which grants a ridiculous amount of gold when done correctly. Riot introduced a rule that reduced the gold earned when slaying minions with the item, but players have found a bypass for this, which has resulted in a massive amount of gold generation.

Now the devs are looking to completely gut this strategy, as it’s been deemed far too powerful for its own good. Instead of granting the minion gold penalty to just the holder of the item, the debuff will now apply to anyone on your team with the item.

It’s not yet certain if this nerf will be the fix needed to take down this oppressive strategy, but with the change arriving in Patch 14.2, Riot is hoping to see the double support item meta completely gone.
