Fnatic have given an update on top laner Óscar ‘Oscarinin’ Muñoz’s hand injury as the team continues to prepare for their decisive LEC Finals match on Saturday.

In a statement posted to X/Twitter, Fnatic announced that Oscarinin will sit out the upcoming LEC Finals in Montpellier as he continues his recovery from a hand problem. The Spanish top laner had to play through injury in August 27’s elimination match against EXCEL, after which he underwent surgery on his hand.

Benched player Martin ‘Wunder’ Hansen will continue to fill in for Oscarinin in the top lane. The 2019 MSI champion played his first competitive match in seven months on September 2 as he helped Fnatic beat Team BDS 3-2 with little practice time to work his way back into shape or get used to the meta.

With that victory, Fnatic not only booked a spot in Montpellier but also punched their ticket to the Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage. It salvaged a season that was turning ugly after a ninth-place finish in the Winter Split and an eighth-place finish in the Spring Split.

Fnatic have the chance to make their first LEC final since Summer 2021, when they lost the title to MAD Lions — the team they will be playing against on Saturday in the lower bracket final at the Sud de France Arena. The winner of that series will move on to face G2 Esports in Sunday’s tournament decider.

Fnatic have not established a timetable for Oscarinin’s return, but with the Worlds Swiss Stage still five weeks away, it is expected that the Spanish player will make a full recovery and be able to play at the event in South Korea.
