Helldivers 2 players convinced classic enemy is coming soon
Arrowhead Game StudiosHelldivers 2 players are theorizing that one classic enemy from the previous games could be coming soon, wrecking devastation on Super Earth and the surrounding planets.
In order to win the battle for democracy and protect Super Earth, Helldivers need to first understand their enemy, then they can begin blowing it and the planet they reside on to pieces. As of the initial release of Helldivers 2, two races have threatened liberty, the Automatons, and the Terminids. Thankfully, players have mastered taking these down using handy builds and tons of explosive Stratagems.
However, players think a new challenge may be on the horizon, and some fans are convinced that one classic enemy from the first game could be making an appearance – which is not bringing hope to those who have faced them before.
Helldivers 2 players think Illuminates are coming soon
“Something big is on the horizon” posted one player on the Helldivers 2 Reddit, revealing that this major enemy was “strangely absent” from the game and that the entire northern part of the map feels void of life, which could suggest that something new will be coming in a future update.
On top of this, they also explained that “the Illuminates have excellent cloaking and teleportation tech” which could explain why they’ve not been detected yet.
As first seen in the original Helldivers, the Illuminates are an advanced pre-aquatic race that is pretty technologically advanced. They posed quite the threat in the first game and could prove to be tougher than the Automatons many players are currently struggling to keep back.
“It would be crazy if the illuminate attacks super earth directly and we’d have to defend inward” commented one user, highlighting the liberation percentage that hovers over the planet. Given their cloaking and teleportation skills, this could certainly be possible and would likely send the community into a panic.
Others argued that the faction could be coming from a different place: “I think they will come from the south. So far the faction’s positions relatively match with HD1. But I do think there is room for a 4th faction in the north.” So the deadly force could be coming from either side.
Ultimately, the Illuminate is a powerful and popular faction, and they’ve also been mentioned in Helldivers 2, so it’s not impossible – but no word has been released by the developers yet.
