The Elden Ring community is enjoying the story of one fan’s first Level 1 playthrough, brought to life in what they’ve deemed a “book of death.”

Many Elden Ring fans have tried to beat the game without leveling up their character at all through what is called a Level 1 playthrough.

Beating the game like this makes an already difficult experience even harder, resulting in plenty of funny and memorable stories from fans.

However, one player has taken the cake by sharing their death count for each boss in a notebook, and the Elden Ring community loves it.

Elden Ring fans approve of notebook tracking deaths

The notebook was shared on the Elden Ring subreddit, where the poster explains in their title: “I just completed my first Level One run on any of the Souls games. Except I’m terrible at these games!”

They share images of their character, as well as all the different bosses they fought, including how many attempts it took to overcome each battle.

While there are plenty of deaths for each boss, the one that stands out to all the users is how many tries it took for them to beat Malenia: 803.

“What’s hilarious is that it looks like they preplanned a huge block of [tallies] already, so they immediately started with small marks.”

The pages and tallies are also accompanied by small doodles and drawings of the various bosses, something that has also struck a chord with the Elden Ring community.

“Rennala’s drawing is so funny, Rykard, though, it’s terrifying. Congrats on run, bro.”

Some users note that completing a Level 1 playthrough proves the original poster can’t possibly suck at the game.

“Dude, I consider myself relatively good at these games, but I know I wouldn’t be able to do the whole game at level 1,” someone wrote.

It’s another humorous anecdote that Elden Ring players can share as they prepare for the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in June.
