Diablo 2: Resurrected is on a major discount at Newegg, with 67% off the Prime Evil edition which nets you a bonus for Diablo 3.

The mighty and highly influential Diablo 2 has gotten a major discount at Newegg. With an ongoing sitewide sale on digital games, the remaster for Blizzard’s seminal action RPG has dropped by 67%.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is one of Blizzard’s best, preserving the original nature of the 2001 game and bringing it forward with some modern niceties. Of course, with this being the Xbox version, controller support is now fully embedded.

While some might consider it slightly outmoded in some parts of its design (remember to hit those potion buttons!), it still holds up better than what came after. With its deep customization that comes from oodles of loot and the race to level up the fastest with the seasonal ladder, it is a replayability goldmine.

Diablo 2 was the inspiration behind Path of Exile, the top competitor to Diablo at the moment. Other games are taking a swing at things, but Diablo 2’s DNA is everywhere. It’s an inescapable force from the past.

Rest of the Diablo series gets steep discounts

Lilith Diablo 4

For those on PS5, you can save 29% on Diablo 4. The price of Diablo 4 could see more discounts in the future, as the game is prepping to launch on Game Pass next month.

Meanwhile, those on Nintendo Switch can grab Diablo 3: Eternal Collection with a steep 40% discount. This version of the game comes with an exclusive Ganondorf-themed item set for your characters.

While you’d suspect that each game is the same – and the core smack things with weapons is similar – each game has its strengths and differences.

Which Diablo game should you play?

Diablo 2

Diablo 2 is the “classic” way to play, with things like potions being finite. It does offer a significantly deeper experience in terms of less handholding than its sequels too.

Diablo 3

Diablo 3 is a straight-action game, with some Diablo-isms from 2 carrying over. It’s a lot simpler and intended to grab your brain tendrils to run through it as many times as possible.

Diablo 4

Meanwhile, Diablo 4 is an MMO-lite. Like Path of Exile, it doesn’t want you to get too attached to characters as they’re probably tied to the seasonal content. Once that expires, you do it all again, but maybe a little differently this time.
