Diablo 4 players bash The Gauntlet for being another Season 3 disappointment

Diablo 4 players have already had enough of The Gauntlet, which many think represents another disappointing Season 3 addition.

Diablo’s all-new Gauntlet endgame content went live alongside the launch of Patch 1.3.3. Blizzard developers designed The Gauntlet as a non-linear dungeon meant to test every D4 player’s mastery and skill.

Time limits keep things interesting, too, adding extra pressure for those chasing high scores on the dungeon’s leaderboards. Suffice it to say, The Gauntlet was intended as a way to spice up the endgame experience.

However, the Diablo 4 community seems miffed by the latest addition as many label it yet another Season 3 letdown.

Diablo 4 players disappointed by The Gauntlet, so far

Discourse about The Gauntlet has taken over the Diablo subreddit. One Reddit post gaining lots of traction reads, “Gauntlet is straight garbage change my mind.” Another post mocks the new Gauntlet mode for feeling like little more than a sleep-inducing affair.

Players wanted leaderboards but don’t like how they’ve been implemented through a mode whose dungeon layout, mob density, and rewards leave much to be desired.

“This is probably the worst addition so far,” said one user who went on to call out the glitches and “junk loot” rewards. The user also shaded the number of times the update was delayed.

Harsher critiques label Diablo 4’s Gauntlet a glorified Nightmare Dungeon reskin, with one person commenting, “Ok, I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks gauntlet is just another lazy reskin of something we have done 100x.”

Others who were looking for a reason to return after Season 3’s unsatisfactory rollout said this won’t bring them back into the fold. “…I’m already done with the season. Gauntlet is way too boring to bring me back, just like AoZ was last season.”

“Season 3 continues to disappoint,” wrote someone else, echoing the thoughts of a contingent of players who’ve tried the new endgame update.

For now, it seems most are just hoping Diablo 4 Season 4 delivers. And said hopes remain pretty high, given previous promises of itemization changes arriving in the fourth season.
