Spectacular Spider-Men’s launch, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin sequel, and the debut of the all-new Ultimate X-Men round out the best new comics for March 6, 2024.

If last week’s new comics were about wrapping up storylines, this week’s are about setting up the future.

DC begins laying the groundwork for Zur-En-Arr’s role in Absolute Power this week in a new Batman arc, while Ms. Marvel and X-Men continue the march towards the inevitable finale of Fall of X.

The latest prong of the Ultimate Comics initiative also drops this week, as fan-favorite Peach Momoko brings a new take on the X-Men. If that’s not your thing, though, the classic Ultimate U will get some love with Peter and Miles team up in the new Spider-Men ongoing.

Best new comics releasing March 6

These are the best new comics releasing the week of March 6, 2024. DC Comics title will hit shelves on Tuesday, March 5, while other publishers such as Marvel, Image, and IDW will release books on Wednesday, March 6.

You can find your local comic shop at Comic Shop Locator or purchase digital copies via the digital storefronts linked below.

Ultimate X-Men #1

Marvel continues to run its new Ultimate Comics initiative hard and fast, with the X-Men finally making their way to center stage. This time around, the book focuses on fan-favorite Armor, a mainstay of the Astonishing era books who only briefly appeared in the previous Ultimate universe

Armor provides an interesting twist on the X-Men formula, giving fans a look at the team from outside the normal line-up. At this point, we don’t even really know who the Ultimate X-Men are, so this book could be a huge surprise.

Batman #145

A lot has changed from the end of the Failsafe arc to now. For one, we know that the Batman of Zur-En-Arr, which has taken over the body of the mechanical Failsafe, will be a major player in this summer’s DC event, Absolute Power.

How we get from here to there is a story that could have major ramifications for the Bat-family, and it’s going to start here. Dark Prisons sees Batman and The Joker forced to work together to escape a prison, but how will the surprising reveal of the three Joker personalities factor into this escape?

A THRILLING NEW ARC IS HERE… “DARK PRISONS” BEGINS! Following The Joker: Year One’s stunning reveals, Batman must engineer an escape from Zur’s prison… but what dark secret does Zur now hold that’s a game changer for the Dark Knight and the entire DC Universe?

X-Men #32

This week in Fall of X, X-Men sees Shadowkat and Magik team up to cut a bloody swath through a host of Orchis. We’re racing towards a finale, with last week seeing Iron Man take his place for the final blow in his massive Sentinel Buster armor.

We’re getting fewer and fewer details about the actual events of the issues as we get closer to the finale. That being said, Kate’s dragon Lockheed is back after a long absence, which is sure to please long-time fans.

BESTIES WITH BLOODY BLADES! Kate Pryde and Illyana Rasputin have been best friends for a long time. They’ve had good times, and they’ve had bad times. One thing they can always agree on? Stomping anti-mutant bigots’ heads.

The Spectacular Spider-Men #1

It seems like a slam dunk to have both Spider-Men co-lead a book, so it’s wild that it took this long. While the two have regularly appeared in each other’s books over the years, the last time they explicitly were co-leads would have been Spider-Men II way back in 2017.

Spectacular Spider-Man already has a hell of a pedigree, with Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon writer Greg Weisman helming the series. Future solicits also reveal some interesting twists may be coming up, teasing a returning Gwen Stacy and a budding Miles Morales and Ms. Marvel relationship.

The stars of two of Marvel’s biggest series come together in their first ongoing series ever!  That’s right, Peter Parker and Miles Morales are going to team up on the regular, comparing notes and using said notes to take on some of their most dangerous bad guys. This duo is better than dynamic, amazing, sensational, superior… they’re SPECTACULAR! And with Greg Weisman, writer of the fan-favorite animated Spectacular Spider-Man series, returning to Spidey along with Spider-Legend Humberto Ramos, you know it’s going to be epic.

Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1

Returning to the frontlines of Fall of X, Ms. Marvel continues her tenure alongside the X-Men in Mutant Menace. The series, written again by MCU star Iman Vellani, is set to follow up on the mysteries of last year’s The New Mutant.

The New Mutant was a surprisingly deep story, with Ms. Marvel providing an excellent viewpoint for readers who may not be as used to the terror and persecution Marvel’s mutants have traditionally faced over the years. With a story focusing on how Kamala’s community reacts to her coming out as a mutant, expect this one to hit hard.

HATED AND FEARED! Ms. Marvel has officially come out to the world as a mutant and a member of the X-Men… and she’s about to learn just how hard things can get for mutantkind! Kamala Khan is used to being a hometown hero—there’s no way her community would turn on her just because she’s a mutant, right? …Right?? The writers of the hit MS. MARVEL: THE NEW MUTANT miniseries (including the MCU’s own Kamala Khan, Iman Vellani) return to chronicle Ms. Marvel’s next steps into exploring her mutant identity!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evolution #1

It cannot be overstated just what a meteoric success The Last Ronin was. That original story, following the last surviving Ninja Turtle in his quest to defeat the Foot, resonated with readers in a way no one expected.

The Last Ronin has spawned toys, an upcoming video game, and all sorts of tie-in media. Now, though, it’s time for a proper sequel, following the next generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their ongoing fight for justice.

It’s clear to Casey Marie that if something isn’t done soon, the city she knows and loves will be lost forever. So, whether they’re ready or not, she and her young pupils must raise a new coalition and lead the charge to keep the peace. Witness the rise of the next generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they fight to restore peace to the streets they live below! Legendary TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman proudly presents the next epic chapter of The Last Ronin, reassembling the acclaimed creative team from the original monster bestseller for a second oversized, prestige format miniseries event!
