MW2 AR with “phenomenal” TTK in Warzone is still being slept-on

One of Modern Warfare 2’s most popular assault rifles should be back in the thinking for the Warzone meta as it has a “phenomenal” TTK but is being overlooked right now.

With Call of Duty’s annual release cycle still in effect, Warzone has gotten caught up in things. The battle royale has become an amalgamation of different games, mixing weapons, equipment, perks, and a few other things into one intense battleground.

In the case of Modern Warfare 3’s integration with Warzone, guns from the newer game were more suited to the early health and TTK changes. They quickly displaced the popular guns from Modern Warfare 2 which some players believed had become “unusable” in certain scenarios.

However, some MW2 guns are creeping back into the thinking again and there are others that are being overlooked which could, eventually, get some love again.

One of those weapons is the STB 556. Warzone expert WhosImmortal highlighted the assault rifle in his February 15 video as one of the best options for Resurgence matches, especially with a “phenomenal” TTK.

“The STB 556, it’s a sleeper. You’re sleeping on it, I know you are, this thing has actually got a phenomenal TTK and it’s super easy to use,” the YouTuber said, noting that the Modern Warfare 2 favorite benefits from MW3 attachments to really buff its control and damage ranges.

That includes using the VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor, Bruen Heavy support underbarrel, and Corio Eagleseye 2.5x. Though, you do have to use the 42-round mag as that’s the best you’ll get ammo-wise.

  • Muzzle: VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor
  • Barrel: 508mm Rear Guard
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Heavy support
  • Optic: Corio Eagleseye 2.5x
  • Magazine: 42-round mags

The somewhat limited ammo capacity is the only knock on the classic assault rifle, and it shouldn’t be enough to dissuade you from using it. Plus, the fact that it’s been since MW2 means you’ve probably maxed it out anyway.

It remains to be seen if it’ll actually step back up into the meta anytime soon, but for now, the AR remains a fun and different option that many players won’t be using.
