One Piece is currently nearing the end of its epic Egghead Island arc of the Final Saga. The arc, which started out with the Straw Hats’ adventures on the futuristic island, has shocked fans with several revelations, ongoing fights across the New World, and the Reverie Flashback.
As one adventure is about to end, the series is prepping up for the Elbaf arc with the arrival of the Giant Pirates. However, before a new arc begins, the Straw Hats must take care of the issue at hand and defeat their enemies.
As it just happens, one of the most beloved characters in One Piece is currently engaging in a brutal fight. However, fans are clearly unhappy with his performance and are making countless memes and sharing them on social media.
One Piece fans are unhappy with how Zoro vs Lucci is playing out
Manga PlusOne Piece started Zoro vs Lucci in Chapter 1091, which was released in September 2023. However, even several months after the fight began, Zoro is still struggling against the CP0 agent. While it’s true that Lucci has awakened his Zoan devil fruit, Zoro has improved by leaps and bounds over the years.
In the recent chapter (1107), Zoro is visibly exhausted from fighting Lucci and says they need to wrap this up since he’s in a hurry. However, his comment earns mockery from the villain, who calls the beloved One Piece character a “dead-weight.”
Ever since the beginning of the series, Zoro’s popularity has been second only to Luffy. However, while fans still love the King of Hell, they’re unable to accept why Zoro cannot defeat Lucci even after so long. Whatever the reason may be, fans have found a new way to amuse themselves with new memes about Zoro.
A Twitter user shared a thread of several Zoro memes regarding the recent One Piece chapter as fans bash their beloved character. The first one is a Jujutsu Kaisen reference recreating Toji’s death scene where he lost to Gojo. The threat goes on as we see one more Jujutsu Kaisen reference and a Bleach scene using Zoro and Oden instead of Ichigo and Zangetsu.
Part of the reason why he’s getting bad limelight is that fans are underestimating Lucci, who was no match against Luffy. Nonetheless, regardless of the reason behind the lengthy fight, one thing is certain: Zoro wouldn’t lose to the villain.
However, not all fans have given up on this popular character. A popular One Piece theorist Typical Joe shared on Twitter/X: “I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Zoro intentionally stalling Lucci & keeping him in check is actually the smartest possible move. If Zoro KO’d Lucci, and then ran off to help the others. Lucci would only get up again soon after. Awakened Zoans have insane.”
