Junji Ito’s horrifying character to appear in new one-shot manga

Junji Ito, the famous horror author has given us so many horrifying characters, out of which one has received a new one-shot manga.

There are several horror animanga creators in the industry, but when the name Junji Ito pops on screens, everyone starts getting goosebumps thinking about what they are going to see next. That’s because Ito’s creations are way different and terrifying from what we usually get to witness in other projects.

At the beginning of 2023, Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre was released on Netflix and it had everything to make you fall off your seat. From featuring human heads getting punctured to headless bodies, the anthology series was an epitome of terror.

Now, it is time for every horror fan to buckle up and wait for the new one-shot manga series featuring the horrifying yet beautiful character from Ito’s universe.

Junji Ito’s Tomie to appear in new horror project

Tomie was created by Junji Ito for the manga series of the same name in 1987. It was his first official work that earned him popularity and several live-action and anime projects.

Junji Ito will also draw a new "Tomie" illustration for the magazine cover.

Tomie is a beautiful woman who holds the power to manipulate everyone. She is also someone who can make men fall in love with her at one sight. With impeccable manipulative skills, Tomie can also make men fight each other for her. Also, she isn’t a human so she can resurrect even after getting killed several times.

The anticipated new one-shot manga is titled “Tomie Control” and it will be published in Nemuki+ on April 12, 2024. Nothing about the storyline is yet known but seeing the first illustration of the project it would be safe to assume that Tomie will continue toying with men. Besides that, when the issue featuring Tomie is out, we’ll be able to see the magazine cover drawn by the horror author himself.

Tomie was Junji Ito’s first creation, so it’s obvious the author has decided on something special for her comeback. Let’s roll up our sleeves and see what unfolds in the one-shot.
