Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer

The latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen manga subtly features similarities with a popular Demon Slayer character.

Jujutsu Kaisen delivered yet another shocking chapter last week. Yuta and Yuji joined hands against the King of Curses and were brilliant in the fight. They desperately struggled to not only defeat their enemy but also to save their friend Megumi.

Chapter 251 features several incredible moments as the fight gets more intense. We also see a brief glimpse of Megumi breaking down. Yuji and Yuta lose the battle after taking serious damage. Not only that, but Maki joins the battle at the end of the chapter.

Yuji and Yuta are still clearly alive, so there’s a chance that they might get back up soon again. Even so, the battle against the strongest is at its final stretch as Gojo’s students have taken center stage. Delve deeper to find out how Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest chapter references the popular Demon Slayer character.

Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji technique

During the short time between Gojo’s return and the battle of the strongest, everyone’s skills improved tremendously. They all trained to be prepared in case Gojo lost the battle. Nonetheless, the one who changed the most is Yuji Itadori.

Yuji said that in order to save Megumi, he will eat anything he has to, as long as he can increase his powers. In Chapter 220, the series hints that Yuji consumed the remaining Death Paintings (Choso and his siblings) to get more power.

Chapter 247 also discreetly hints that Yuji uses Choso’s Piercing Blood, but it remains uncertain if it is Yuji or Choso. However, as the fight continues in Chapter 251, Yuji surprises the King of Curses with an insane technique. He first spits a mouthful of blood on Sukuna’s face and later explodes it. The technique seems to be an extension of Blood Manipulation.

However, Demon Slayer’s beloved character, Nezuko, also has the same ability. Gege Akutami often subtly references some popular works in his manga, so it wouldn’t be odd if the similarity in Yuji’s and Nezuko’s powers is intentional. While Yuji is a human using cursed energy, Nezuko’s powers stem from her demonic transformation.

Like every powerful demon, she can use a Blood Demon Art. Nezuko’s technique, “Exploding Blood,” is a technique of her Blood Demon Art, “Combustible Blood.” It allows her to ignite the blood that has exited her body, turning it into pinkish-crimson flames that are harmful only to demons.
