Dragon Ball makes stage debut with amazing new year dance show
Fans may want to flock to theatres as a dance troupe in Shanghai astonish fans worldwide with a fantastic tribute to Dragon Ball for its 40th anniversary.
Dragon Ball fans live with the privilege that their favorite anime has the benefit of experiencing almost all forms of media, from the manga and anime to video games and big-screen movies, even the infamous live-action adaptation that is Dragon Ball Evolution. Thankfully, something impressive came out of a different live-action version of Dragon Ball.
An outstanding musical tribute to Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z wowed the world in Shanghai; as we all rang in the new year, an impressive dance troupe blew audiences away with an incredible performance recapping the events of Dragon Ball with outstanding flair.
Dance troupe celebrate Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary
Shanghai-based video sharing site, similar to YouTube, “Bilibili” hosted a New Year event featuring a massive Dragon Ball themed stage show full of dancing, special effects, and a lot of musical tributes to Dragon Ball.
The show contains a dance-fueled retelling of Dragon Ball and the Saiyan and Buu sagas of Dragon Ball Z. Beloved characters from across the series make an appearance, including a young Goku and Chi-Chi meeting and growing up, and Master Roshi and Krillin even have their own dance number.
The gala also includes an intense light show during the fights between Goku and Tienshinhan; Goku and Vegeta’s battle houses amazing special effects, and their later encounters are bromance-filled moments between the Saiyan pair. Of course, a dance using the Potara earrings as Vegito appears to take care of the menacing Majin Buu is featured.
The event was made that much more special with the appearance of Hiroki Takahashi, the singer of the first song used in Dragon Ball for its opening, called “Makafushigi Adventure!” joining the fantastic dance group on stage for a big final number. Truly, this is an outstanding performance that every Dragon Ball fan would rush to see if they could.
Is this Dragon Ball show going on tour?
Over 350 million people tuned in for the livestream, showing the fantastic performance and giving Bilibili a record number of views. It’s currently unknown if they plan to take the show on the road. We can only guess if this incredible stage show will be extended to a theatre-length feature and taken on tour, but we know fans would adore seeing this show coming to their town.
