Trigger K-drama: Everything we know so far about the action thriller
Netflix There’s nothing like seeing some of your favorite K-drama stars be announced to lead a new worthwhile storyline. Actors Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwang were confirmed to lead the action thriller K-drama Trigger.
On October 25, Netflix announced the two actors would star opposite each other in a thrilling storyline about a gun-free country suddenly being full of them. This won’t be the first Netflix K-drama or work for the two actors. Kim Nam-gil recently starred in Song of Bandits as the male lead. Meanwhile, Kim Young-kwang played a psychotic killer in Netflix’s Somebody.
Netflix couldn’t have dreamed up a better duo for Trigger. The new upcoming K-drama has fans eager with anticipation to see their on-screen chemistry.
While Trigger is still in its early stages, here’s everything we know so far about the K-drama, its cast, and its plot.
Trigger: What is the action thriller K-drama about
A devoted cop and a man who knows the ins and outs of the firearm world team up to find the root cause for South Korea’s sudden rise in guns.
According to Soompi, Trigger “is an action thriller drama that follows two men who are trying to solve the mess that ensues after firearms are suddenly widely available in South Korea, a gun-free country, through an unknown source. While one man believes guns must be used in order to defend the weak, the other insists that no man should ever use a gun.”
South Korea is a country where firearms are heavily illegal, with even police officers unable to carry them. Trigger K-drama will dive into the laws as the country straddled the fine line between justice and crime due to the sudden influx of firearms. Fans can expect a dynamic display of action as Trigger has a whopping 30 billion won (approximately $22,400 million) budget.
Trigger: Who’s in the cast?
Kim Nam-gil and Kim Young-kwan are currently the only actors confirmed for the cast of Trigger.
With Trigger still in its early stages, the full cast has not been revealed. Kim Nam-gil will take on the leading role of Lee Do. The character was a former military sniper and Olympic gold medalist. He’s known as a police officer with a strong sense of justice. When a series of shootings occur, he begins to investigate how the people involved secured firearms.
Joining Lee Do is the character Moon Baek, played by Kim Young-gwan. Moon Baek is a notable figure in the world of firearms. In what capacity, fans don’t know. He appears cool and collected on the outside, all while carrying out a detailed and complex plan.
Trigger: When is the release?
For now, Netflix hasn’t confirmed an official release schedule – but the K-drama is speculated to be released in 2025.
That’s right. Fans will likely have to wait two years for Trigger’s official release. Netflix has yet to announce the rest of the cast and more details. Still in the early stages, fans will have to keep updated on official posters, characters, and teasers, and it might be a while until an official trailer.
