A brand-new horror movie has just dropped its first gruesome trailer, with fans already dubbing it “2024’s Talk to Me.”

We might only be a month into the new year, but movie lovers are already being treated by the horror genre. Night Swim has already terrorized audiences, with titles such as Stopmotion and Longlegs looking to follow suit soon.

Cellphone is another title that just released its first-look preview, though viewers were a bit cooler on the footage, describing it as “weird.”

However, another new film is making waves with its debut trailer, with some fans dubbing it as “2024’s Talk to Me.”

Tarot described as “2024’s Talk to Me” after first trailer

The first trailer for Tarot, a new horror movie from Sony, has been dubbed by fans as “2024’s Talk to Me.”

Releasing in cinemas on May 10, 2024, the movie’s synopsis reads: “When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings – never use someone else’s deck – they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.”

Written and directed by Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, the cast includes Larsen Thompson, Harriet Slater, Jacob Batalon, Humberly González, Alana Boden, and Olwen Fouéré.

“Could this be 2024’s #talktome?” one user posted on X/Twitter in response to the trailer drop. “THIS S**T LOOKS INSANELY GOOD,” added another.

So far, fan opinion seems to be divided on Tarot, with some claiming the narrative looks unique while others fear it will stray into a nonsensical plot.

“As much as I don’t like the inaccurate characterization of tarot cards in this…I fear I will be seated,” one X/Twitter user stated, with another adding: “Can’t wait to see how little they know about actual tarot.”

Linking to a meme, a third user commented: “Me when I see a creative kill in a horror movie,” suggesting that Tarot has something new to offer the horror slate for 2024.

“F**king hell. The year has just started and they already sent us to the middle of it,” a YouTube commenter added.

Interestingly, the movie was originally scheduled to be released on June 28, 2024, but has been moved up by over a month – a stark contrast to films such as Deadpool 3, which has had its release date pushed back twice.
