Love is Blind: What’s up with the Jackie/Monica feud?
Love is Blind After the Altar focused on the drama between ex-BFFs Jackie and Monica from season 4. But what caused the feud in the first place?
Tensions flared in Love is Blind After the Altar, when Jackie and Monica were reunited. In the Netflix special, which brought back all of the former cast mates, fans learned that there was an unseen engagement from the pods that never made it on air.
Said engagement was between Monica and Joshua, who got together in the pods. Time has passed, and now Jackie is in a relationship with Joshua. But when Monica posted on Instagram about her previous engagement, Jackie was furious.
Why did Jackie and Monica break ties on Love is Blind After the Altar?
According to Jackie and Monica, they were best friends while in the early stages of the reality show. But everything got messy when fans discovered that both women dated the same man: Joshua. In fact, Monica was briefly engaged to Joshua when he proposed to her in the pods, yet she ended up breaking it off due to being “torn” about her feelings for him.
Eventually, Jackie and Joshua began to date following Jackie’s revelation that she and Marshall were simply not meant to be. The pair have been together ever since, yet insecurities have arisen since Monica posted about her prior engagement to Joshua on Instagram.
In the post, Monica wrote in the caption,
“I thought I had found somebody who finally saw me and accepted me for me. I accepted his proposal and we were onto the reveal. During the reveal, reality set in, and my heart and mind were torn. I wasn’t sure if I had made the right decision or picked the right person. The only thing I did know was that you shouldn’t feel torn on your engagement day. It should be a decision in your life that is made with great confidence and no second thoughts. This is when I realized that this wasn’t God’s plan for me. I wasn’t at peace with my decision and ended our engagement shortly after filming.”
During the After the Altar special, Jackie confronted Monica about the post, calling her a “clout chaser” and “messy” for revealing the details of her failed engagement to Joshua.
Many fans were quick to defend Monica, unable to understand why Jackie was mad in the first place.
One viewer took to a Love is Blind Reddit thread to voice their thoughts on the matter. “Sorry, but if it sends you into a spiral because someone talking about their PAST relationship with your man, from BEFORE you were dating, then the relationship is probably not very strong,” they wrote.
