Pokemon Go player devastated after missing “impossible” Legendary catch

A Pokemon Go player missed the chance to catch a rare Legendary Pokemon as it appeared in a location where it was impossible to catch.

Pokemon Go players have a harder time catching Pokemon than the fans of the mainline games. You must rely on Poke Balls, Berries, and fancy throws. You can’t fall back on status effects or an Ability to keep a wild Pokemon locked into place.

The fact that certain Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Go can be incredibly rare and locked behind paywalls (at least temporarily) means that missing your shot can be incredibly frustrating. After all, it might be a while before you get another.

There’s also the chance that you won’t get an encounter with a rare Pokemon due to the overworld. Usually, wild Pokemon spawn a respectable distance away from each other in Pokemon Go, but sometimes, they will appear somewhere they don’t belong.

A Pokemon Go player missed out on a Legendary Bird due to it spawning near a PokeStop

A user on the Pokemon Go Reddit has shared an image of how they lost out on a notoriously rare Galarian Moltres. This is because it spawned on a PokeStop, preventing the player from initiating the encounter and giving it time to run away.

“Had lots of fun attempting to click the guy only to either get the Pokestop to pop up,” the OP said, “Or the downright annoying Cottonee/Swirlix instead. Galar boi decided to promptly despawn when I was 5 attempts in. My hatred for the event Pokemon has only increased now lol.”

The OP wasn’t the only person who missed out on a Legendary Bird: “Sad. I’ve seen 2 where I had an egg hatch right after I saw it then fled by the time I got done with the hatching animations,” according to one user, while another said, “Dude this happened to the last bird I saw lmao.”

Pokemon Go has faced many visual glitches over the years, affecting the character models, including a recent one that messed up Hisuain Typhlosion’s eyes despite being correct on its Shiny model.

Usually, those glitches are annoying but harmless. If Pokemon are spawning on PokeStops, then it means they can’t be caught, defeating the point of the entire game, as the whole point of Pokemon Go is catching Pokemon you meet in the wild.
