Miley Cyrus’ bodyguard sparked speculation he was carrying a firearm on the 2024 Grammy Awards red carpet — and many are divided on the issue.

Miley Cyrus nabbed major hardware at the 2024 Grammy Awards. She not only walked away with Pop Solo Performance for the inescapable “Flowers” but ended up swiping one of the Big 4: Record of the Year.

Twitter/X was abuzz about her wins and her electric performance of the Grammy-winning song. But that wasn’t the only moment that took social media by storm.

The pop singer’s bodyguard escorted Cyrus on the red carpet with a black umbrella in tow. Many have speculated that he was actually carrying a concealed firearm.

Viral tweet claims Miley Cyrus’ bodyguard carried firearm at Grammys

“All is not as it seems,” wrote Matt Wallace in a now-viral post. Wallace’s words immediately set fire to Twitter/X with many concluding that what the bodyguard was carrying was not an umbrella.

“Auto firearm dressed as an umbrella?” asked a user for clarification.

“Umbrella gun? You think she got James Bond as security?” quipped a user.

“Looks like a gun,” echoed a fourth.

Many users were not convinced of the conspiracy theory. Instead, they reminded others that bodyguards often conceal weapons beneath their jackets, not by carrying an umbrella. Several users pointed out there was a “fake arm” hidden beneath his jacket.

It was also reported a rainstorm rocked Los Angeles before and during the awards show.

“Real weapon concealed by the black coat,” one user pointed out.

“A bodyguard with an umbrella, I don’t see what’s so strange about that,” said another.

“Or it’s an umbrella because it’s raining,” said a user, point-blank.

During Miley Cyrus’ acceptance speech for Pop Solo Performance, the singer gave a big thanks to presenter Mariah Carey. She even noted how both artists have MC as their initials, calling the moment “iconic.”

The pop singer also mentioned how the downpour almost caused her to be late for her special win, which all but confirms that what the bodyguard was carrying was, in fact, an umbrella.
