How to play Rock, Paper, Scissors in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 lets players interact with each other via in-game emotes, with rather hilarious results. One emote lets players play the classic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and if you’re looking to get in on the fun, here’s what you need to know.

From the moment players boot up Helldivers 2, it’s made blatantly obvious the game doesn’t take itself seriously. As everyday citizens turned soldiers, the game heavily leans into the comedic aspect of media like Starship Troopers.

How to unlock Rock, Paper, Scissors in Helldivers 2

Good news, Helldivers — earning and playing Rock, Paper, Scissors is easy. It’s an emote you’ll unlock via the battle pass, and luckily, it’s in the free track. 

Reach page 8 of the Helldivers Mobilize! free battle pass and spend 50 medals to unlock the emote. That said, it is a bit of a grind, as medals are dished out for players who complete missions or by completing daily orders.

Playing Rock, Paper, Scissors in Helldivers 2

As you can imagine, Rock, Paper, Scissors is an interactive emote, and only one player has to have it equipped for others to participate. Players can equip the emote via the ship’s armory, which is where you can customize other options such as player titles.

Once equipped, press the emote button (D-pad on PS5 or B on PC) to start the mini-game. This will initiate the game for another player to come up and interact with. Use the D-pad or arrow keys to select your winning move, and rinse and repeat for more fun.
