Fortnite players claim patch 28.10 has massive aim assist buffs

Patch 28.10 brought a lot of changes to Fortnite, reportedly also buffing aim assist by a whopping 20%.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 significantly changed the way the game was played, with new modes and content to explore. The battle royale mode saw some of the biggest additions, with a new map and implementations like the weapon mod system providing new experiences for players.

It’s been a little over a month since the season started, and while various hotfixes have come through, there have been many issues that needed addressing. Patch 28.10 provided solutions to said problems with a blanket of fixes and even more content.

However, it seems the latest patch might’ve caused a bigger issue, and it involves a massive buff to aim assist.

Patch 28.10 reportedly buffs aim assist by 20%

The reports of an aim assist buff started when Twitter/X user GabeCFN shared a look into the game files, stating aim assist saw a massive buff with the new update.

This led to a lot of skepticism, and rightfully so. After tweeting out the game files, GabeCFN shared takes from other Fortnite players discussing the changes.

Fortnite creator UpshallGames says hip-fire aim assist has been buffed and that aim down sight aim assist has been massively buffed as well. Upshall ends with the possibility that the new FOV changes or that Epic Games finally figured out the controller is “way too weak.”

Gabe then shares another take from content creator thekidswayy. In their clip, they “demonstrated” the buffs, as they took down two players.

“Look at that, I have aim assist through the walls,” they said. “That’s how it should be. That’s how we level the playing field with mouse and keyboard players.”

Aim assist has become a hot topic of debate as of late in the gaming scene, primarily with FPS titles like The Finals, CoD, Apex, and more. As you can imagine, aim assist isn’t well-liked, with players clamoring for changes, no matter what game is being discussed.

No official statement has come out regarding whether these claims are true or not. Time will tell, but hopefully, Epic Games will speak up sooner rather than later on the state of aim assist in Fortnite.
