Sung Jin-Woo is changing rapidly in Solo Leveling, not just in terms of powers but in appearance as well. Thanks to the system, he’s more buff and taller than before with just a few days of workouts. In the recent episode, he joins Hwang Dongsuk’s party as an E-rank hunter and meets Yoo Jinho, a D-rank.
Jin-Woo learns that Jinho comes from a wealthy family and only wants to become a hunter as a hobby. They enter a C-rank gate, but the real enemies aren’t only the monsters but also his teammates. Except for Jin-Ho and Jin-Woo, the entire party is “Gecko.”
It’s a term used for those hunters who kill their weaker team members just to have a bigger share of the loot. The term originates from a lizard’s tendency to cut off its own tail and run off. Solo Leveling Episode 6 is titled: “The Real Hunt Begins.”
According to the official website of the Solo Leveling anime, the synopsis of Episode 5 reads: “It seemed like they were progressing smoothly through the C-class dungeon, but things changed completely when they stepped into a space covered in mana ore where the boss was sleeping.
“In order to monopolize the mana ore, which can be made into a large sum of money, a member of the party betrays Jin-Woo and Jin-Ho and locks them in a cave. What is the new “quest” given to Jin-Woo after the deadly battle with the boss?”
Jin-Woo fights the dungeon boss with unbelievable power, completely baffling Jin-Ho. Jin-Ho fears that Jin-Woo is a false ranker since those who deliberately hide their powers are usually psychopaths who murder for fun.
As soon as he defeats the boss, the other team members blast their way into the cave and try to kill Jin-Woo. Only Jin-Ho stands on Jin-Woo’s side as the latter kills eight party members. The episode will also introduce Hwang Dongsuk’s brother, Hwang Dongsoo, an S-rank hunter working in America.
