Jujutsu Kaisen reveals the real reason Sukuna hates Yuji

Sukuna has always hated Yuji, but Jujutsu Kaisen never revealed why – until now.

The story of Jujutsu Kaisen begins with the protagonist, Yuji Itadori, swallowing the special-grade cursed object. It was Ryomen Sukuna’s finger that is feared as the undefeatable King of Curses even over a thousand years after his death.

In ordinary circumstances, Yuji should’ve died as soon as he swallowed the object. However, there’s a one-in-a-million chance that the curse will incarnate, which is exactly what happened with him. Yuji then became Sukuna’s vessel. However, the surprising part is that he’s able to suppress the King of Curses.

Since then, Sukuna and Yuji have coexisted in one body. Although Sukuna has always hated Yuji, the real reason isn’t simply because he is trapped. Why Sukuna hates Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen

It’s not a secret among Jujutsu Kaisen how much Sukuna hates and underestimates Yuji. He doesn’t even bother to use his name and simply refers to him as a brat. Not to mention how he always puts Yuji down all the time. During Yuji’s fight with Mahito, Sukuna even joined the other villain and made fun of Yuji.

His hatred for Yuji isn’t something as simple as a villain hating a hero. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 248 reveals that Sukuna has always known about Yuji’s strengths, and which is why he finds the young sorcerer unpleasant. He, the King of Curses, has to go against a brat constantly. Sukuna knows that no matter how many times Yuji’s spirit breaks, the latter will get back to his feet and continue fighting.

He notices that in just a month, Yuji has learned to use Reverse Cursed Technique. It’s the most complex technique that even a genius cannot master in such a short time. During his fight with Yuji, Sukuna starts zoning out and wonders why he’s so upset.

He cannot accept the fact that a brat who is much weaker than him, can stand against him with just willpower and nothing else. Jujutsu Kaisem’s recent chapter also reveals that Sukuna doesn’t simply want to kill Yuji. He wants to first destroy Yuji’s ideals. Whether or not Sukuna fulfils his goal, at least one thing is now certain: is that he has always acknowledged Yuji’s strength.
