Intel Raptor Lake

Looking for an upgrade for your CPU and fancy one of Intel’s 14th-generation processors? Then you are in the right place to find all the information you need.

The 14th Generation of processors from Intel is not a true replacement for the 13th Generation, as the 14th gen ‘Raptor Lake’ CPUs are more of a refresh, using the base design of the 13th generation chips with upgraded specifications. These chips have been out in the wild for a few months now.

Intel is currently facing more pressure in the CPU market than ever, thanks to competition not only from eternal rivals at AMD but also from ARM and Apple. The 13th generation made up some ground and recovered market share from AMD, and so far the 14th generation has managed to compete on more or less equal ground even against the impressive 7800X2D chip from AMD. It remains to be seen if Team Blue can keep up the charge.

The latest Meteor Lake Core ultra chips have finally started to appear on the market, primarily in laptops, but they have yet to see wide circulation. So for many consumers, Raptor Lake remains the best option for most PC builders using Intel LGA 1700 CPU sockets.

Where to buy Intel 14th gen CPUs

As of right now, you can order Intel’s 14th-generation CPUs at all good stores. There are listings ready for you to order including B&H, Micro Center, and Newegg. Amazon, Best Buy, and other big retailers are also expected to launch very soon.

The Intel 14th-generation CPUs were released on October 17, 2023. The first CPUs to be released in the lineup will be the unlocked “K” variant of each chip, with others following in early 2024.

Intel 14th gen price

The newest Intel 14th-generation CPUs will come in at the same prices as the 13th-generation. Presumably, due to it being a refresh rather than a full new launch, Intel has conceded that pricing should be the same.

Of course, with PC parts the way they currently are, it’s more than likely you’ll see these listed at higher prices.

Of course, not all of the Intel 14th-generation chips have been fully revealed. The low-end CPUs are currently still under wraps for the time being, so we only have preliminary specs to go off.

Additionally, leaks of the 14700K also showcase that the CPU might be around 17% faster than its predecessor.

This is the last hurrah for LGA 1700

The 14th-generation Raptor Lake refresh CPUs are running the same LGA 1700 socket that 13th gen uses. Details from ASUS motherboard updates also confirm that Intel’s next CPUs will be using the socket, as they detail “compatibility for next-gen processors” according to renowned hardware leaker 9550Pro.

Therefore, the 14th-gen might be an attractive upgrade for those using 12th-gen hardware. However, if the performance increases are to be believed, 13th-generation users might have less of an onus to upgrade.

This will likely be the final upgrade that the LGA 1700 socket will receive, as Intel is expected to shift over to a new socket, LGA 1851 when Meteor Lake releases.
