At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Kevin Feige originally announced that Fantastic Four will kick off Phase Six of the MCU in November 2024. However, with lots of shake-ups to the schedule, impacting other films like Blade, Deadpool 3, and Avengers: Secret Wars, those plans have been uprooted somewhat.
After months of speculation and rumors, we now know the cast set to take on the main four roles in the upcoming film. The film will star Pedro Pascal and Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Human Torch.
The casting was confirmed on Valentine’s Day, with a sketch of the actors as their new roles included in the image. However, alongside revealing that cast, the teaser image has also given some major hints at when the film could be set.

Fantastic Four film: When will it be set?
Much has been made about the time period in which the Fantastic Four movie will be set. When analyzing the announcement image, fans noticed that the newspaper that The Thing can be seen holding gives away a potential date and time frame.
While the drawing of the paper doesn’t include anything more than a rough outline of a front page, it does resemble a very famous newspaper from 1963.
Up until this point, the iconic Marvel group has never truly appeared in the MCU. However, one major name from the Fantastic Four had a brief cameo in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
In the film, John Krasinski appears as Reed Richards. During his reveal, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange can be heard saying, “Fantastic Four. Didn’t you guys chart in the 60s?”
This comment, alongside a detail in the recent announcement image, has many theorizing and predicting that the Fantastic Four movie will be set during the 1960s.
Fantastic Four is set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025.
