Netflix’s Wednesday has a large cast of characters, so who are the main players that you need to know? Let us guide you.

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re all together ooky, The Addams Family. And now there’s a Netflix series focusing on the arguably most iconic member, Wednesday Addams.

Starring upcoming scream queen Jenna Ortega and directed by macabre auteur Tim Burton, the series focuses on troubled teen Addams as she navigates a new and mysterious High School. We greatly enjoyed the series here at Dexerto, and you can read our review here.

The series – which has now been confirmed for a second season – has a very large cast of characters, so it may be hard to keep track in between seasons. So, we’ve put together a guide of all the characters you need to know. And don’t worry, we’ll try to keep spoilers to a minimum!

Wednesday Addams – Jenna Ortega

Jenna Ortega Wednesday

It’s very likely that you already know who Wednesday is, but for those who don’t, she is the deadpan daughter of the Addams family. She loves violence, horror, and all things spooky. So when she’s sent to boarding school by her parents, she’s not too happy.

Jenna Ortega has made a name for herself in the horror industry, and Wednesday is yet another Scream Queen role. Along with it is Scream 5 & 6, X, and You Season 2.

Enid Sinclair – Emma Myers

enid wednesday

Enid is Wednesday’s roommate at Nevermore Academy, and while the two seem very opposite aesthetically, the pair actually grown very close together. However, she too has a dark side, that being her ability to shift into a werewolf, though she has been ostracised by her family for not being able to “Wolf Out” properly.

Enid is played by Emma Myers, who also appears in The Baker and the Beauty and Girl in the Basement.

Xavier Thorpe – Percy Hynes White

xavier wednesday

Xavier one of two love interests in the show’s love triangle. He’s a mysterious artistic student at Nevermore Academy who has the ability to bring his drawings to life, but he is tortured by his past. This includes his relationship with his distant father, and his past relationship with popular girl Bianca.

Xavier is played by Percy Hynes White, who can also be seen in Edge of Winter, A Christmas Horror Story, and The Gifted.

Tyler Galpin – Hunter Doohan

tyler wednesday

Tyler is a normie student at Nevermore Academy, and is the son of the Sherriff. He works at the local coffee shop, called the Weathervane Café, where Wednesday hangs out. Because of this, he also forms a close connection with her, forming a love triangle for the lead. Though while he may seem like the more normal one of the two boys, he also has some skeletons in his closet.

Tyler is played by Hunter Doohan. Doohan also appears in projects like Truth Be Told and Your Honor.

Principal Larissa Weems – Gwendoline Christie

principal wednesday

Principal Larissa Weems is the head of Nevermore Academy, and clearly dislikes the Addams family, mainly due to what happened 30 years ago, when she and Morticia Addams were roommates at the same school. So when mysterious things start happening in present day, the Principal is on the case, and the suspect list.

Gwendoline Christie is most notable for her performance in Game of Thrones, and has also appeared in Star Wars and The Sandman series.

Marilyn Thornhill – Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci in Wednesday.

Marilyn Thornhill, who teaches botany, is the dorm mother of Wednesday and Enid, and the only normie member of the school’s staff. However, while she may just seem like an ordinary teacher at first, nothing is as it seems in Nevermore Academy.

Christina Ricci, like Oretga, is something of a horror icon, as she has also donned the Wednesday Addams role, back in the 1990s. Her other horror projects include Yellowjackets, Casper, and Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow.

Sheriff Donovan Galpin – Jamie McShane

sherrif wednesday

Sheriff Donovan Galpin is the normie sheriff in Jericho, and also the father of Tyler, one of Wednesday’s love interests. The Sherriff and Wednesday are quickly at odds with one another, as Wednesday is often in the centre of all the murderous and mysterious goings on throughout the show.

McShane can also be seen in Bloodline, Gone Girl, Argo, and Sons of Anarchy.

Morticia Addams and Gomez Addams – Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán

Luis Guzman, Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Episode 1 of Wednesday.

You already know who these people are. They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re all together ooky, The Addams Family. And Gomez and Morticia are one of the most well-known loved-up macabre couples in TV history. While sadly they don’t get much of a role in Season 1, it seems apparently that we’ll be seeing a lot more of them next season.

Catherine Zeta Jones is know for her Academy Award winning roles in Chicago, The Mask of Zorro, Oceans Twelve, and The Terminal. Luis Guzmán can be seen in Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, Narcos, and Oz.

Bianca Barclay – Joy Sunday

bianca wednesday

Bianca Barcaly, if you couldn’t tell from the alliteration of the letter B in her name, is the Queen Bee of Nevermore Academy. Because of her popularity – and because she is a siren – she is able to draw people in, however, due to her attitude, not everyone likes her. Having recently broken up with Xavier, things become tense when feelings between him and Wednesdays begin to sprout.

Bianca is played by Joy Sunday, who is also known for appearing in Bad Hair, Dear White People, and Dog.

Eugene – Moosa Mostafa

euegene wednesday

Eugene is your typical nerdy bumbling friend, who happens to run the school’s beekeeping club, He isn’t particularly popular, but perhaps that’s why Wednesday likes him, as she prefers to stick with the outcasts. And when mysterious happenings start to go down, Eugene is surprisingly around more than you’d think.

Eugene is played by Moosa Mostafa, whose other acting credits include Nativity Rocks! and The Last Bus.

Wednesday is currently available to stream on Netflix.
