The day has come – True Detective Season 4 has aired its first episode, and what a way to kick off proceedings. In our five-star review, we went as far as to say it’s as good as the debut season, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the chalk-and-cheese detectives.

What time is True Detective Season 4 on Max?
New episodes of True Detective Season 4 drop on Max at the same time as they air on HBO – meaning they’ll be available from 9pm ET/PT.
True Detective: Night Country episodes air weekly on Sundays, starting from January 14. You can find the full release schedule below:

- Episode 4: February 4

If you’re in the UK, the episodes air the following day on Sky Atlantic at 2:05am, with repeats that same day at 9pm – or you can also stream them at the same time on NOW.
As per the official synopsis for the fourth chapter: “When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.
“To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
