The Mandalorian actor Carl Weathers dies at age 76

The movie star who is best known for playing Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies and Greef Karga in the The Mandalorian has died at age 76.

Carl Weathers, an incredibly accomplished film and television actor, died in his sleep during the morning of February 2, 2024. He was 76 years old.

As the news spread, fans began to express their sadness at the death of the actor, famed for his roles in movies such as the Rocky films, Predator, and Happy Gilmore.

X has been flooded with fans of Weathers sharing their favorite moments from the actor’s incredible career.

Fans saddened at Carl Weathers’ death

Weathers’ former co-star from Happy Gilmore, Adam Sandler, took to X to express his sadness at his friend’s death with kind words “A true great man. Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete.”

YouTuber Simon Miller discussed Weather’s versatility as an actor, also remembering his iconic performance as himself in the comedy classic Arrested Development.

“RIP Carl Weathers, find your happy place,” said one fan, referencing his character Chubbs’s advice to Happy Gilmore after Chubbs died in the movie.

Another shouted out his legendary montage with Sylvester Stallone in Rocky III, saying, “Apollo Creed was one of the best and coolest characters I’ve ever seen! it doesn’t get much better than the end of the Rocky III training montage.”

Many others paid tribute to Weather’s other iconic roles like Dillon in Predator, the titular ‘Action’ Jackson, and Greef Karga in The Mandalorian.
