Everyone’s favorite heroes in a half shell made a triumphant return to the big screen in 2023. Decades removed from the live-action classics and years on from Michael Bay’s divisive iteration, the franchise went back to its roots with a younger TMNT tale in Mutant Mayhem.

With its witty writing and dazzling art style, the flick was an instant success, launching to both critical acclaim and commercial success at the box office. Thus, it was all but inevitable we’d see this younger rendition of the ooze bros before long, and now, it’s been made official.

Alongside a spinoff video game, a full-fledged Mutant Mayhem sequel is now in production and we’ve got the early overview of all there is to know.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem sequel is officially set to release on October 9, 2026.

This release date was confirmed in early 2024, giving a more than two-year heads-up for avid fans. Obviously, being this far out, it’s worth bearing in mind that plans can always change. We see calendar shakeups quite often in Hollywood, so there’s every chance the Mutant Mayhem sequel is pushed forward or held back somewhat over the course of its production.

Although nothing has yet been made official on the plot of the Mutant Mayhem sequel, we do already have a decent idea of what to expect.

In a mid-credits scene, we see Shredder arriving in New York City, seemingly to do the bidding of Cynthia. At her command, the iconic turtles villain appears set to be the main antagonist in the second film. Though beyond this ominous threat, there’s no quite telling what else fans can expect from the sequel.

Could Casey Jones make his debut? What about the fifth turtle? The possibilities are endless and we’re sure to be in for some big surprises when this flick hits big screens around the world.

We know for certain original Mutant Mayhem director Jeff Rowe is returning for the sequel, however, little else has been confirmed beyond that.
