Spider-Man could appear in Invincible Season 2 based on a comment from the character’s long-time voice actor, Josh Keaton.

Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker’s Invincible partnered with Spider-Man for the first time 20 years ago in Marvel Team-Up #14.

The meeting, of course, saw the pair face off against a villain – Doc Ock – and fans have long hoped that a repeat adventure would make its way to Invincible’s animated TV series.

While some believe such a cameo is at least possible, others are convinced Sony would never license its golden boy to an adult animated show. A recent tease has the former group thinking they’ll soon be proven right, however.

Is Josh Keaton hinting at Spider-Man in Invincible Season 2?

Veteran Spider-Man voice actor Josh Keaton recently confirmed that he’s “playing a character in one of the episodes” for the back half of Invincible’s second season.

Keaton couldn’t offer any further details, stating in a follow-up tweet that he’s not even sure which episode his character will appear in. “I didn’t get a whole script, so I don’t even know the episode number. They got, like, NSA level security,” the actor explained.

This hasn’t stopped fans of both superheroes from speculating, though. “Oh bro it’s DEFINITELY Spider-Man,” one person replied with excitement.

The official Invincible account fanned the flames, too, by quote tweeting Keaton’s post with a mock spoiler warning.

As many may recall, this isn’t the first time that the Invincible Twitter page has teased fans about their Spider-Man Season 2 theories.

Months before the sophomore season’s debut, an eagle-eyed viewer spotted what appeared to be a reference to Marvel Team-Up #14 in a screenshot. Whoever runs the Invincible page merely responded by saying, “I have no idea what that is!!!”

Fans will find out whether all their hoping has been for naught when Amazon begins airing new episodes of Invincible Season 2 in March.
