Professor X actor James McAvoy has revealed he would consider reprising his role in the MCU if Disney meet this one particular condition.

The MCU has been struggling as of late to resonate with audiences and reach the box-office success of previous films such as Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: Civil War, and more.

With Deadpool 3 shaping up to be the only big MCU film to release in 2024, fans are concerned that the superhero genre and the Marvel landscape could be in trouble and, as many have stated online, causing a level of “fatigue” amongst audiences.

However, with the likes of the Fantastic 4 and the X-Men now back in the hands of Disney and now integrated with the MCU, a new wave of heroes as well as the return of old, familiar faces could generate new interest in the franchise.

Before Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, the Marvel characters that had the most success when it came to live-action adaptations was the X-Men family.

As one of the oldest and most beloved Marvel teams, the X-Men franchise has spawned over eight movies including spin-off films.

In light of this, many X-Men actors who starred in the original movies and more recent reboot have been asked if they would be open to returning to their characters in the future.

While Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have expressed their interest in doing so, James McAvoy has admitted he has not been contacted at all about the return as Professor X.

The actor shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, “Anything I say will get me in trouble on that. I’ve had no contact with them.”

The former X-Men actor then revealed that he would be open to returning to the MCU family so long as one major condition is met by the studio.

“If they want me to come back, they need to talk to me and there needs to be a good script. They need to want me. When stuff like that happens or doesn’t happen, that’s the reality of it.”

Time will tell if McAvoy ever returns as Professor X in the MCU, however, we’ll be sure to keep you in the know if any more news and rumors appear online.
