CBS has re-aired Season 1-3 of Yellowstone in the absence of new episodes, but will it air Season 4 next? Here’s what we know.

CBS is no stranger to releasing hit shows that everyone loves, with a back catalog of fan favorites including Young Sheldon, Criminal Minds, and NCIS.

Yellowstone is another hugely popular title in the CBS canon, with the platform recently repeating Seasons 1-3 in lieu of the infamous Season 5 Part 2 delay.

Now that Season 3 has drawn to a close, is Yellowstone Season 4 now coming to CBS? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Yellowstone Season 4 coming to CBS?

CBS has not yet confirmed whether they will be airing Season 4 of Yellowstone.

The final two episodes of Season 3 – ‘Meaner than Evil’ and ‘The World is Purple’ – aired on Monday, January 29, with the previous three episodes airing the day before.

The last ‘new’ episode of Yellowstone to air live was back in January 2023, with new episodes of Season 5 not expected to make their debut until November 2024.

Yellowstone Season 4’s official synopsis reads “In the wake of a coordinated attack on the Dutton’s and their ranch, John is badly wounded and winds up in a coma only to emerge months later, Bethany survives a bombing, but not without being burned herself, and Kayce manages to fend off a shootout at the Montana Livestock Association offices in Livingston, while the ranch hands fend off against armed mercenaries hitting the ranch.

“Jamie, however, has branched from the family and is starting his own dynasty. Everyone manages to survive the attack, but the question remains, who orchestrated the attack and why?

Season 4 has historically divided viewer opinion, with some thinking it gets a bad rap for little reason.

“Look, was it my FAVORITE season so far? Absolutely not. However, I think season 4 is kind of getting an unfair reputation for being a bad season of Yellowstone,” one Redditor posted. “It definitely developed into more of a transitional season which leaves me looking forward to next. I think a lot of characters are also being unfairly disliked, such as Beth, Monica, and Mia. I approach Yellowstone as what I’d call ‘mindless entertainment’ in a sense; I take it less seriously than I do 1883 just because the storyline is a little unrealistic and more soap opera-y in my opinion.

“However this season was one I felt was somewhat more realistic and grounded than the others. We saw different sides to multiple characters and multiple changes in pace that I enjoyed.”
