Invincible star Steven Yeun is giving fans some hope for a shorter time in between Season 2 and Season 3 of the hit series.

After almost five months of waiting, fans of Amazon Prime Video’s original hit series Invincible is coming back with the second half of its second season.

Fans were left on the edge of their season during the mid season finale in November when it was revealed that Mark Grayson, a.k.a. Invincible, was being tasked to prepare Earth for the brutal invasion of the Viltrumites.

While Season 2 Part 2 will most likely see the conclusion of this conflict, many viewers are sad that they may not see these characters for a while after the season ends as there was a two year gap between Season 1 and Season 2. But, star Steven Yeun has revealed that a third season come be coming sooner than we think.

Yeun credits backlogged episodes for a speedy Season 3

The actor recently sat down with Collider ahead of Season 2’s March 14 premiere where he divulged how the Invincible team was hoping to bring fans Season 3 very soon.

“For us, we know that this big break was not fun. We’ve been working hard to get a lot of backlog done,” Yeun explained, “We wanna time this animation thing appropriately. So, yeah, we’ve been working. We’re banking episodes, we know what’s going on.”

The Invincible team did have a lot going against them when trying to produce their highly anticipated second season thanks to global restrictions and the lengthy time it takes to perfect the animation, but it seems like they don’t foresee these issues happening with Season 3.

Yeun’s comments aren’t the first time that someone from the show has spoken about how Season 2 and 3 will be closer together.

Creator Robert Kirkman has said one of his goals is to “try and get it as close to a season a year as we possibly can,” which divided fans as they don’t want animators to be overworked. However, at least Invincible viewers can be rest assured that the two years between Season 1 and 2 will be the longest gap the show will ever go through.
