There’s a new Arnold Schwarzenegger movie trailer doing the rounds online. So, what’s the deal with Agent State Farm?

Arnie’s last big screen outing was 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. That same year, he also appeared in Russian-Chinese fantasy adventure film Viy 2: Journey to China.

The Hollywood legend has been a bigger presence on the small screen in the years since then. In 2023 alone, he starred in action-comedy FUBAR and took part in documentary series Arnold, both for Netflix.

But with the Agent State Farm trailer’s release, Schwarzenegger is set to smash his way back into cinemas – or is he? Read on to find out!

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Agent State Farm movie explained

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Agent State Farm isn’t a real movie – it’s a commercial. So technically, the trailer is a commercial for a commercial!

As its name suggests, the Agent State Farm trailer is part of a promo campaign for State Farm Insurance. Schwarzenegger portrays the campaign’s titular protagonist, “an elite State Farm agent who goes to any length necessary to be the good neighbor the world needs.”

Based on State Farm’s official synopsis, future adverts will cover “the origin story and heroics of Agent State Farm.” They’ll also presumably see Agent State Farm join forces with State Farm’s everyman spokesperson Jake (Kevin Miles), based on behind-the-scenes snaps from January 2024.

Per the Daily Mail, Schwarzenegger and Miles filmed footage outside Gold’s Gym – the Venice Beach venue Arnie popularized during his weight-lifting career. This included scenes of Schwarzenegger pumping iron as Miles looked on.

Is Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in any upcoming movies?

While Agent State Farm is essentially a hoax, that doesn’t mean Schwarzenegger doesn’t have any legit productions in the works. The Austrian Oak will next appear in martial arts comedy Kung Fury 2, which is currently wrapping post-production.

Schwarzenegger is also locked in for action-thriller Breakout. Breakout was originally supposed to kick off principal photography in August 2023, however, the SAG-AFTRA strikes pushed the film’s schedule back.

According to Deadline, Arnie will portray Terry Reynolds, who stages a “daring jailbreak” in a foreign country to rescue his wrongly convicted stepson.
