Charmed star Alyssa Milano has broken her silence on the claims that she got her co-star Shannen Doherty fired from their series.

In the era of late 1990s TV shows, one stood alone in the genre of mythical family drama as Charmed ran from 1999 to 2006.

The show focused on the Halliwell sisters, Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) as they discover their supernatural powers after the death of their mother.

While the show was beloved by many, the show suffered a controversy when Doherty left the series during its third season; something that has been pinned on Milano all this time. However, the actress has recently broken her silence on the issue and put certain rumors to rest.

Milano claims she had nothing to do with Charmed dismissal

While speaking at a panel during MegaCon in Orlando, Milano reacted to the claim that she had a hand in Doherty leaving Charmed.

During an episode of her podcast Let’s Be Clear, both Doherty and Combs claimed that Milano was the reason why Doherty left during the Season 3 finale with the former actress stating, “The narrative that I ‘quit’ was assigned to me by other people. I didn’t assign it to myself. I think I’m at that point in my life where I don’t want to keep lying about it, and I don’t want to keep lying about something that meant the absolute world to me, something that I loved doing. I loved going to that job. I loved the people that I worked with.”

However, Milano responded to these claims in a transcript posted to Instagram in which she completely refuted the claims that she has nothing to do with Doherty’s exit.

“You’re all Charmed fans, so I knew that this was going to come up in one way or another and I wanna be very thoughtful in how I respond to any of this,” Milano stated, “And I think we all know I’m talking about Shannen’s podcast and Holly and Shannen doing it together, the things that Rose has said in the past. So I’m just gonna address it because, I feel like if you can live with a certain amount of honesty and integrity, then you all deserve that. But I wanna be thoughtful because I don’t wanna add on to anyone else’s pain because I don’t think that’s cool either.”

Milano went on to express how “sad” she was about the claims brought against her and because Charmed has been “tarnished by a toxicity that is still to this day, almost a quarter of a century later, still happening.”

The actress made sure to stress that she never had the power to fire anyone as Doherty’s exit was caused by “a mediator [which occured] after collecting testimony from cast AND crew.”

At the end of her post, Milano stated that she wished “Holly, Shannen and Rose [McGowan], peace and light in their personal and professional journeys” as they “all have bigger demons to fight.”
