The Last of Us Part II is the follow-up to Naughty Dog’s beloved action-adventure game The Last of Us, and you may be curious to know how long the sequel is. Here’s everything you need to know about how much time you can spend with the main story and in a completionist run.

Naughty Dog‘s highly anticipated sequel to The Last of Us, The Last of Us Part II originally released in 2020, and while its experimental narrative was certainly divisive among fans, the gameplay delivered some of the best third-person action combat to ever grace the PS4.

While the original TLOU was on the shorter side, the scope of Part II’s story bumped up the sequel’s playtime a significant amount. If you’re just checking out The Last of Us Part II for the first time, or are planning to dive into the upcoming Remaster, you may want to know exactly how much time you can spend in the game.

With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about how long The Last of Us Part II is.

How long is The Last of Us Part II?

According to HowLongToBeat, a single playthrough of The Last of Us Part II’s main story will take 24 hours to beat. However, if you want to tackle side content, such as unlocking various safes and nabbing collectibles, you’re more likely to spend up to 29-30 hours with the game.

Finally, a full completionist run of the game can take up to 42 hours and a half hours. This involves clearing the campaign and completing all the side content on offer including finding every single collectible.

Overall, The Last of Us Part II is a meaty single-player title that you can sink a fair amount of time into. It’s also important to note that the upcoming Part II Remaster will contain even more content including 3 additional missions, known as “The Lost Levels” that were initially cut from the game, and the new No Return mode which is a roguelike survival experience. As soon as we know exactly how long the Remaster is, we’ll be sure to add the details to this page.
