A PC builder and retro gaming fan has gone the extra mile by creating a PC build that looks like an arcade cabinet.

Many fans of PC gaming like to involve themselves in creating elaborate and artistic builds to make their PC cases and set-ups look spectacular. There are even special contests for this pursuit. One builder has decided on a very specific retro look for their build, and has turned their PC tower into what looks like an 80s arcade cabinet.

Reddit user GarooSama posted to the r/PCMasterRace subreddit to show off the build. The internals are impressive enough, boasting a beastly Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super graphics card, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, a huge 32GB or DDR5 RAM, and a massive 5TB of SSD storage. However, far more impressive than its internals is the design of the PC itself.

Modded PC Arcade straight from the 80s

GarooSama has modified a Thermaltake The Tower 200 PC case to look like a retro arcade cabinet. The front now has an arcade marquee at the top which says ‘Garoo Arcade’ in a stylized Pac-Man font, complete with ghosts and Pac-Man himself. Further down is a small screen displaying the current status of all the internal components, such as temperature and load.

Underneath the screen are two small arcade joysticks and accompanying buttons. As a finishing touch, at the very bottom, possibly acting as the power button, is a lit-up coin slot with ‘25c’ marked on it. For those not old enough to remember, a quarter was a standard price for many arcade machines back in the 80s.

It isn’t completely clear from the pictures if the joysticks and buttons are functional or merely decorative. Perhaps if they are functional, the status screen could also be used to play some games.

Even if it is purely aesthetic, it still looks absolutely phenomenal.
