Stardew Valley creator, Concerned Ape, has finally opened up about the game’s sequel in an interview, confirming it is indeed a possibility.
It’s hard to get Stardew Valley out of the picture when it comes to farming simulation games. Despite being released back in 2016, the title still retains a massive player count, making it one of the most popular games on Steam with each passing month.
The game has received a plethora of different updates including new content, which has helped keep fans engaged over the years. But with how long it has been around, it’s only natural that Stardew Valley 2 is a topic a lot of players in the community have brought up multiple times, wondering if a full-fledged sequel will ever come.
In a surprising turn of events, developer Concerned Ape has finally shed some more light on the possibility of a Stardew Valley 2.
Stardew Valley creator speaks up about possible sequel
In a podcast with TigerBelly, Concerned Ape revealed that he might one day make Stardew Valley 2. In his own words, he said: “I might eventually make Stardew Valley 2, to be honest.”
Though the idea is certainly exciting to fans, of course, it’s not without some hurdles. So, don’t get excited just yet. After all, he also mentioned that making a completely new game is difficult, compared to adding more stuff to the current Stardew Valley.
As spotted on GamesRadar, according to him, “It’s just so much easier to just add more stuff to Stardew Valley than to make a whole new game from scratch.”
When asked if he charges for the updates, the creator also mentioned that they simply just “don’t care about money.”
Claiming “trying not to virtue signal,” he further explained that the reason for this is because money has never been “the driving motivating factor.” He added: “What I care for is people loving the game.”
With the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier game keeping the dev busy at the moment, it’s unlikely we’ll hear about Stardew Valley 2 anytime soon. But having said that, at least there’s some hope.
