Queer Eye fans aren’t enjoying Bobby Berk’s behavior on social media ever since he announced his exit from the Fab Five squad. Bobby caught fans’ wrath once more after posting a video relating to Gypsy Rose.

Bobby Berk announced his exit from Queer Eye right after the announcement of Season 8 premiere date. Even though the reality star expressed that his journey was ending on a good note, the fans did not buy in.

The Queer Eye Season 8 premiere was overshadowed by weird controversies and speculations. The production team was accused of exploitation and mismanagement while petty drama was speculated within the Fab Five members.

Things got worse when Bobby uploaded a reel on Instagram asking Gypsy Rose if she needed help re-designing her new living space. He said, “If you’re not Gypsy Rose, keep scrolling because this is just for Gypsy Rose.”

Queer Eye fans found Bobby’s Gypsy Rose reel distasteful

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a victim of abuse and neglect from her mother, Dee Dee, and was sentenced to prison in 2016 for arranging her mother’s murder. Gypsy was released from prison in December 2023 and started building a new life for herself.

In the reel, Bobby asked Gypsy Rose to DM him if she needed help expressing herself in the interior design of her new living space. Fans called out Bobby and his social media manager for being insensitive and distasteful.

A viewer wrote: “Whoever his new social media person is seems really into hopping on to whatever is trending instead of making it feel like Bobby’s presence.”

Another person agreed and commented: “Yeah, like he’s trying to continue with the spirit of Queer Eye by helping those who are going through something difficult, but in a way that doesn’t feel very genuine.”

Fans expressed that the reel felt not genuine and more like a publicity stunt. One Queer Eye fan wrote: “I know it’s nice of him to offer I suppose, but doing it publicly just looks like clout-chasing.”

Many felt that the reel was disrespectful towards Gypsy Rose. Someone said, “‘Slide into my DM’s, Gypsy!’ If you wanted to honestly help for selfless reasons, would YOU not be sliding into HER DM’s?”

All eight seasons of the Queer Eye are available to stream on Netflix.
