Pokemon Go spring event 2020 – Rare species come to 2km eggs, more

Paul Cot

Spring has started and that is being celebrated in Pokemon Go with a special event.

The event starts on Thursday April 9, 8am and will last just over a week until Thursday April 16, 10pm (local time). With changes made to make Pokemon Go more playable from home and the apparent discovery of remote Raid Battles coming soon, there’s a lot to look forward to.

Get those 2km eggs

One of those changes is there is an ongoing 50% discount in egg hatching distance. This is something that ties in perfectly to the spring event as some highly sought after Pokemon can be found in 2km eggs.

It’s now a lot easier to get a hold of Riolu in Pokemon Go…

Chingling, Happiny, Munchlax, Riolu and Tyrogue will be among those Pokemon. The ever popular fighting-type Riolu will probably be on top of trainer’s wish lists but Munchlax and Tyrogue shouldn’t be too far behind.

The other two species that can be found in 2km eggs will be Pichu and Togepi. These baby Pokemon will be wearing flower crowns, too.

Aesthetics aside, these 2km eggs will be a great opportunity to catch as many rare Togepi as you can. Its final evolution, Togekiss, is an excellent addition to your Ultra and Master League team in GO Battle League. You can guarantee yourself 2km eggs from gifts, too!

Make the most of the increased Togepi as Togekiss isn’t a Pokemon you want to pass on…

Plenty of other bonuses

There are plenty of other bonuses to enjoy, of course. They are as follows:

  • Chansey, Exeggcute, Mareep, Marill, and Torchic will be appearing more frequently in the wild
  • Shiny Exeggcute can also be found
  • Buneary wearing flower crowns and Pikachu wearing flower hats will also be appearing in the wild. These can be both be found as shinies as well
  • Alolan Exeggutor, Audino and Azumarill can be found as event-exclusive Field Research tasks rewards

In addition to all this Lucky Eggs will last for one hour, instead of 30 minutes. Enjoy the event and the bonuses it has to offer trainers but remember to stay safe and responsible about your playing of Pokemon Go.
