Thousands of Pokemon Go players around the world recently took part in the exciting Road to SInnoh event, and now after the challenges ended, Niantic has made some changes that fans love.

A Pokemon Go global event is always exciting, with players everywhere taking part to grab themselves some powerful Pocket Monsters like Palkia and Dialga.

Recently the Pokemon Go Road to Sinnoh brought the wild Origin Forme versions of those mythical monsters to the game, as well as some fun new features known as adventure effects, meaning crowds of Trainers picked up Research Tickets for extra encounters with these Pokemon.

Still, while Trainers everywhere know that Timed Research tickets can expire, Special Research tickets instead can live in your game in perpetuity. But what happens when the task becomes impossible to complete? Thankfully, Niantic has thought of that.

Niantic’s change to Special research leaves Pokemon Go fans happy

A Pokemon Go player called u/LiveNeedleworker8759 recently shared a Reddit post, going over a change made by Ninatic, and commening it for making the game easier for players everywhere.

As part of the popular Pokemon Go Road to SInnoh event, Niantic recently released a Special Research ticked called “Go Tour 2024: It’s About Time (and Space)”.

Clearly meant to be completed during the event, the tasks included such things as catching a Palkia or a Dialga, which may have been easy while they were populating Raids, but is likely to prove very tricky for Pokemon Go players after the fact, when Raid bosses change.

Seemingly pre-empting this issue, as explained in this post, Niantic has changed any tasks asking players to catch specific Pokemon such as the “Catch Palkia” task with a more generic, “Catch a Legendary Pokemon”, thus giving everyone a chance to complete the challenge.

Pokemon fans in the comments are pretty pleased with this smart change, with one user commenting, “Thank GOD thank you good sir or ma’am for bringing this up.”

This isn’t the first time Niantic has done this sort of thing, as another user recalls their experience, adding, “They did something similar last year when we had a task to do a primal reversal and I was just short a few candies. They changed it to mega evolve a Pokémon.”

Meanwhile, some others are questioning what exactly defines a Legendary Pokemon, with a comment saying, “Remember when Pokémon cartoon called Arcanine a legendary Pokémon. Good times…”

Hopefully, this change will help out any Pokemon Go players stuck on this Special research, and perhaps Niantic will offer some similar changes to tough tasks in the future.
